Need to Get Flyers Made? Here’s Some Design Advice

Flyers are an incredibly ideal way to get marketing done in the traditional sense. Coming up with one tends to require a lot of creativity for design and ideas alike. Making one and giving it out plays a key role for a marketing campaign to succeed in full effect.

What is a Flyer?

Flyers are a single printed sheet that is not folded. They are often used to advertise an event, a product, or a service. The best route is for it to have a simple message and come in a convenient size.

Think about it: at least once in your life, you’ve had a piece of paper advertising something slipped in your groceries. You might even have had it handed to you while walking somewhere. Exhibitions, events, and street corners are typical sites for flyer distribution.

How many of the flyers you’ve received did you actually read and get interested in? Chances are you actually threw most of them out without even looking at them. The ones you did look at and feel curious enough about to follow up on—what drew your attention? That’s the same effect you want the flyers you make to have on other people.

Aside from being efficient, flyers are great in terms of promotion. Read on to get some design advice for your flyers and some tips along the way:

  • Don’t Be So Stiff

You’re going to want to establish a relationship with potential customers from the get-go. People will want to be comfortable and feel a personal connection to the brands they’re into. If you’re a family-owned business or a startup, make sure the audience gets to know you on a personal level.

  • Keep an Active Voice

The flyer in itself should have a call to action of some sort. Whether it’s to check on the social media of the brand, call a number for more information, or even to shop using said flyer as a coupon, don’t be passive. A good rule of thumb is to have a date driver. Give customers a sense of urgency without having a promo running long enough to be disadvantageous to your profit.

  • Make Sure Your Headline Is Exciting

Since a flyer basically just has seconds to grab attention and convey information, you should have a headline that does just that. Something boring will probably end up in a trash can or something similar—not good if you want people to avail of your product, service, or attend your event.

Highlight the benefits a customer will get from you. If you’re offering customised sugar-free cupcakes for special events, for example, a line like “Celebrate the sweet life without worrying about the sugar!” can really create the desired effect.

Conclusion

Traditional marketing is ideal still despite the rise of the internet. Flyers are a great way to go about it. When you get flyers made for your business, don’t forget to keep an active voice, make sure your headline is exciting, and don’t be so stiff.
